Instructions
To Create The Effect Of A Double Boiler If You Do Not Have One:
Providing that you have a stainless steel bowl and a medium cooking pot, you can make a double boiler.
Fill a medium cooking pot with 2 inches of water or just enough for when you go to place the metal bowl on top it will not touch the water.
Bring the water to a simmer, then place the metal bowl on top.
Adding The Ingredients:
Add the egg yolks, (optional turmeric), to the metal bowl. Then beat together the ingredients using a whisk over simmering heat until the mixture is thick and creamy.
Then in a saucepan, scald 1 cup of milk and add the vanilla.
Pour the mixture into a metal bowl combining all of the ingredients and mix well.
Stir ice cream mixture slowly and continuously in the metal bowl until slightly thickened, around 10 minutes.
Remove from the heat and pour in honey and remaining milk, stir, then let cool completely.
Then freeze in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's directions.
If You Do Not Have An Ice Cream Churn:
Pour prepared ice cream mixture into undivided ice trays or freezer-safe shallow rectangular cake pan. Then cover with plastic wrap and place into the freezer, freeze until firm around 3-6 hours.
Using a fork, beat 3-4 times while freezing, leave in an additional hour or so for the flavors to develop.
